Gary StevensGary Stevens

Former Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur and England International footballer.

Gary has always shown a keen interest and aptitude towards coaching and when still at school, in 1975, he attended his first football coaching course. During his football career his interest in coaching led to him actively working and gaining coaching qualifications alongside his playing career and assisting his club coaches on a daily basis.

He played for Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur during the 1980s, playing in FA Cup finals for the latter two, and winning the 1984 UEFA Cup with Spurs. He was also capped by England, and was called up to the 1986 World Cup squad. He made two substitute appearances in the tournament.

He left Spurs for Portsmouth in 1990 but persistent injuries forced him to retire in 1992. He had never fully recovered from a knee injury suffered three years earlier due to a tackle by Vinnie Jones.

Following retirement he worked as a presenter for Sky Sports. He currently in a coaching role but looks to speak on the after dinner circuit whenever he is available.
